Beulah Bellows
Beulah Jean (Laurie) Bellows, age 84, of McCool Junction, died Sunday, June 10, 2012.
Beulah was born January 21, 1928, in Aurora, Nebraska to John Sterling and Mary Laurie. She graduated from McCool High school and taught school for a year before marrying Everett Dale Bellows. To this union, six children were born.
Beulah was a member of the United Methodist Church of McCool Jct. She sang in the choir, played the organ, and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Beulah was actively involved in many community and county organizations. She taught Bible School and was a 4-H Leader. She was also an avid doll collector. She loved her McCool Junction! She farmed with Dale, while also working at Montgomery Ward, and later was a cook at the McCool Jct. school. Beulah and Dale owned and operated the McCool Drive-Inn for 15 years. After retiring, Beulah missed her people so she returned to work at Walmart in York.
Beulah was a member of the McCool Legion Auxilary, York D.O.E.S., and Eastern Star.
Left to cherish her memories are, daughters: Cathy (Rick) Clark of Kingwood, TX; Jane (Mort) Hough of York; Laurie Bellows and Rick Lombardo of Lincoln; and Amy Bellows of Omaha; sons: Brian Bellows of York; Jim (Nancy) Bellows of York; 10 grandchildren: Jennifer (Tony) Jessup of Lincoln, NE, Mark (Ali) Hough of Leawood, KS, Shawn (Donyle) Clark of Victoria, TX, Tara (Jay) Meyer of Lincoln, Lindsey Bellows of Lincoln, Beth Bellows of Lincoln, Shaylee Bellows of York, Matt (Sunny) Bellows of St. Louis, MO, Brian Bellows of York, and Becky Bellows of York, NE; 7 great children, 2 sisters-in-law: Margaret Laurie of Baton Rouge, LA; and Jean (Roy) Stuhr of York; many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. Her husband, parents and brother, John Laurie, preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, McCool Jct. Visitation is from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be directed to McCool Junction United Methodist Church, McCool Junction Greenwood Cemetery, or to the family for later designation.
