Betty J. Schultze
Betty J. (Hedrick) Schultze age 89 of York, went to her eternal home on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 at the York General Hearthstone where she had been a resident for the past four months.
She was born Feb. 8, 1927 near Gresham to Verle and Gertrude (Walter) Hedrick and was the third of ten children. On June 17, 1945 she was married to Daniel (Danny) Schultze.
Betty worked alongside her husband on the farm near Gresham. Milking cows, raising hogs, chickens and Black Angus cows. She took great pride in keeping their farm equipment clean and polished. In 1988 Betty moved to York. She enjoyed being with her family, babysitting nieces and nephews. She made the best sour cream pie, cinnamon rolls, and homemade bread.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Boyd (Jan) Hedrick of York and Michael (Judy) Hedrick of Lincoln; her sisters, Judy (James) Bliss of Grand Island and Janet Strong of York and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, on July 3, 1981; sisters, Correne Hedrick and Darlene Kath; brothers, Stanley Hedrick, Gerrald (Jack) Hedrick and David Hedrick; nephews, Larry Hedrick and Brian Hedrick; nephew-in-law, Anthony (Tony) Howe and niece, Mavis Neville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with burial in St Peter’s Cemetery in Gresham. Closed casket visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Gresham.
