Betty Rust
Betty Elaine Rust, age 87, of York, died on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at York.
She was born on Feb. 25, 1927 at Bradshaw to Charles Delbert and Rose (Bittinger) Morris. She grew up on the family farm with her three brothers and one sister. Betty attended high school in Polk. On March 10, 1949, she married Jess Rust.
To this union were born six children. Betty was a stay at home mom and later on also held various jobs. She enjoyed watching old movies, listening to music, sewing, quilting, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jess of York; daughters, Teresa (Lyle) Jensen of Aurora, Nancy (Dale) Wilson of Henderson, Nev., Lou Ann Gewecke of Grand Island, Patricia (D.C.) Simpson of Alvin, Texas and Jane Rust of Fairbury; son, Roger (Geraldine) Rust of Polk; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Janet (Donald) Morris, Martha (Lloyd) Morris and Shirley (Lee) Morris; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, Lloyd, and Lee; sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and L.L. (Kelly) Calhoon and infant nieces.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at the Metz Chapel in York. Interment will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday with the family greeting friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
