Betty Jean Krause Bell

Betty Jean Krause Bell, formerly of York, NE, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Omaha, NE. She was 97.
Betty was born March 18, 1922 to Harold and Vivian (Brengle) Krause in Fullerton, Nebraska. She graduated from Fullerton High School and then the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
In 1944, she married James Dennis Bell, MD of York. Following his completion of medical school, they settled in York where James practiced medicine while Betty served as a wife, mother and community philanthropist.
Betty served on numerous committees and boards both locally and statewide. She enjoyed golf, bridge, the fine arts and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children James S. Bell II of Gretna, NE, Dr. Richard P. (Mona) Bell of Daytona Beach, FL, and Courtney (James) Nixon of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren: Caitlin (Eric) Morris; Kiely (Kevin) Hermeling; Jamie (Matt) Hahn; Kathleen (Michael) Wize; Jodi (Jesse) Artus; Michael (Emily) Bell, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother HP Krause of West Covina, California and grandson Charles Bell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, York, with the Reverend Sandy Webster officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Greenwood Cemetery York. No visitation, cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the BackPack for Kids Program in York or to the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Omaha.
