Bernice Fredrickson
Bernice Amy Fredrickson, age 91, of York, passed away March 8, 2015 at York.
She was born, the fourth of ten children, on May 3, 1923 at Johnstown, to George and Amy (Burley) Lambrecht. Following high school, Bernice received normal training in order to teach school. She adored children of all ages. She was united in marriage to Jacob Groves on Sept. 20, 1941. Two daughters, Janice and Linda, were born to this union. She was later married to Arthur Fredrickson in Feb. of 1992. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion and was an employee of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad during the early years of her first marriage. Bernice was a homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Morris of York and Linda Groves of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Douglas (Keiko) Morris of Fall Church, Va., Amy (Colby) Ramsey of Lincoln and Michele Herdt of Scottbluff; great-grandchildren, Amanda Dwine, Jacob Morris, Thomas Morris, Maria Morris, Ben Ramsey, Nate Ramsey, Sophia Ramsey, Jacob Speer and Zayne Herdt; two great-great-grandsons, Elijah and Abram.
She is also survived by two brothers, Jack Lambrecht and Lewis Lambrecht.
Step-children, Robert (Starla) Fredrickson of Sterling, Colo. and Shari (Phil) Hallisey of York; step-grandchildren, John and Gregg Fredrickson and Kimberly and Christina Hallisey.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jacob; four brothers; three sisters and son-in-law, Thomas Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with Pastor Bud Christensen officiating. Interment will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
