Arlin Max Bornschlegl, Sr.

“Max” Bornschlegl passed into eternal rest on Aug. 13, 2015, at home in York attended by loving family.

Max was born on June 8, 1932, to John and Ella (Matthies) Bornschlegl at home in rural Ohiowa. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ohiowa. He graduated from Ohiowa Public High School. On June 8, 1969, Max married Beverly Ann Renneke in Mankato, Minn.

Faith and family were the focus of Max’s daily life; he held positions of service and leadership at Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva and over 20 years as church financial secretary at Bethel Lutheran Church in York. His care and love for his family was unequaled and will be sorely missed. Max’s work life varied from ag-related to service positions but the joy of his later years was being owner/operator of Gold Mine Consignment in York for over fifteen years.

Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverly; son, Arlin and wife, Olga; grandchildren Svetlana, Alexander, Anastasia and Elizabeth, all of Rochester, Minn.; daughter, Lisa (Aaron) Dressel and grandsons, Christian and Jace of York.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva. Interment will take placeat the Ohiowa Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Metz Mortuary in York on Friday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Grade School in Geneva and Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Waco or for later designation by the family.​
