Anna Conners
Anna Carolyn Conners passed from this life Thursday, November 12th, 2021 at Park View Haven Nursing Home of Coleridge, Nebraska at the age of 97.
Anna was born on November 15th, 1923 in Laramie Wyoming to John and Lillian (Nelson) Conners. They lived in a four room log cabin in Albany, Wyoming that John had built. When Anna was six years old, two of God’s servants in the ministry brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Conners’ home. Anna’s mother embraced it at that time, and her father accepted it several years later. Anna professed to give her life to God at the age of ten.
Anna and her siblings, Robert, Alma, and Ruth enjoyed the mountain life of hiking, sledding, skiing, and carefree summers. When Anna was a young adult, the Conners’ family moved to ‘The Buckeye Ranch’, where Anna learned how to be a very helpful ranch hand through the kind and gentle teachings of her father, John. She spoke many times of how she valued working with her father while at ‘The Buckeye Ranch’.
Anna attended country school through the eighth grade and then completed a course in Practical Nursing. When she turned 21, Anna came very close to death while suffering from the flu. This caused her to whole-heartedly consider God’s plan for her life, and as a result, she offered her life for the ministry. In February of 1949, Anna started in the ministry of work with her first co-worker, Hildred McRitchie, in Provo, Utah. Over the next 64 years of her life, the ministry brought her to seven U.S. states, as well as Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and areas of western Mexico. Anna adapted to the cultures of the areas she travelled to, riding scooters for transportation and learning Spanish to spread the gospel to the people of the land.
In February of 2013, when physical and health limitations created barriers for Anna in the travelling ministry, she became a resident of the RedBud Canyon Care Center of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Alongside other residents that are a part of the ministry, Anna enjoyed, and contributed to, the abundance of Godly knowledge and grace that is fostered there. Anna, with the Bible and email on her iPad, continued to increase her faith and encourage others.
When Anna’s health needs exceeded what the RedBud Canyon Care Center was able to provide, Anna moved to the Park View Haven nursing home in Coleridge, Nebraska in June of 2021 to be close to her nephew Rod Flaugh. She spent the last several months of her life there.
Anna was recently asked that if she were to live life over again, would she choose to go into the ministry. Anna, without hesitation, said “For sure!!” Her energetic, ever-young attitude will be remembered and treasured by those who knew her.
Anna is survived by her sister, Alma Hill of Nashville Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Holthus Convention Center in York, NE. Burial will follow at Council Cemetery, west of York. Viewing and visitation will be one hour prior to services. Anna's service will be streamed live on Metz Mortuary’s Facebook page.
Condolences may be emailed to Metz Mortuary Messages will be given to the family.
