Bill Ziemke

William Ziemke, age 74, was called to his eternal home Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Omaha, NE. He was born April 19, 1932 in Omaha, NE and given into the care of John and Clara (Kohtz) Ziemke. He was Baptized on May 6, 1932 and Confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer, NE by Pastor Fredrick Evers on May 27, 1945. Where he remained a life-long devoted member serving the Lord through various works. Bill graduated from Benedict High School, Benedict, NE. He went on to serve in the Korean War with the Army from 1953-1955. Bill was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He married Marilyn Bernt on January 21, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Church in Shelby, NE. Bill’s true passion was farming, through all his trials he always found his way back to a tractor seat as soon as his health allowed.

William is survived by his wife Marilyn, of Waco; sons, Douglas and wife Terese, of Waco; Mike and wife Shelli, of Cortland; grandchildren, Katie, Jackie, Tori, and Sydni and sister, Carolyn and husband Ed Haberman of York. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Clara Ziemke.

Services were held Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer. Military graveside services followed at the church cemetery.
