Hildegarde L. Zeilinger

Hildegarde L. Zeilinger age 91 of York, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at York.

She was born January 4, 1912 in York to the Rev Otto and Wilhelmina (Heyer) Batz and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Hildegarde graduated from York High School and then the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1933. She was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

A longtime public school teacher Hildegarde taught in Gothenburg, Gresham and York schools. She was a member of the York Public Library Board, Book Club, enjoyed sewing and playing Bridge.

On August 29, 1936 she was married to Judge John D. Zeilinger in York.

She is survived by two sons, John S. and his wife Susan of Omaha and Rick and his wife Jenni of Fremont. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Ashley Zeilinger and Allison Zeilinger both of Omaha, Kara Zeilinger and Jake Zeilinger both of Fremont.

Two sisters, Gertrude Rogers of Omaha and Ruth and her husband Hub Foster of York.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters Gretchen and Mary, one son Robert, a brother Gerhard and a sister Adelaide.

Funeral services were Wednesday July 16th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Art Brinkmeyer officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery of York. Memorials may be directed to the York Public Library.
