George L. Zavodny
George L. Zavodny age 79 of York, NE., died Monday, November 15, 2004 at Lincoln. He was born April 18, 1925 at Bee, NE., to Frank and Mary (Blazek) Zavodny.
George graduated from Bee High School and then served in World War II aboard the US Sperry. After the service he worked for the Hughes Brothers in Seward and then farmed at Bee, before moving to York in 1952. George then started his own milk route in the York and surrounding areas for many years. Then he worked for York Public Schools for over fifteen years retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York, the York American Legion Post 19, the Hastings Eagles Club, a volunteer at the American Legion Baseball games and a was a former member of the Knights of Columbus here in York. He was also a member of the Catholic Workman, the Czech Club of York and the York Fun Club. On September 9, 1947 he was married to Delores Anderly at Bee.
He is survived by his wife Delores of York, two sons George M and his wife Sheila Zavodny of Weston, NE; Allan and his wife Susan Zavodny of York; daughter Linda Wyzard also of York; 4 grandchildren, Justin Zavodny of Kearney, Michael Shane and his wife Chrystal Zavodny of Ft Leavenworth, KS, Georgia Nicole “Niki” Zavodny of Virginia Beach VA, and Kerry Sommer of Maryland;one great grandson Seth Potts of Virginia Beach, Maryland. Two sisters, Celestine and her husband Leon Hackworth of Granite Falls, WA, and Mary Green of York; sister in law, Marlene Odvody of Seward.
Nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were Thursday, November 18th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with Father Leo Seiker officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery near York.
