Boyd Young

Boyd O. Young, age 93 of McCool Jct., died Wednesday October 19, 2005 at York. He was born March 9, 1912 in rural McCool to Robert W. and Clara (Smith) Young. Boyd farmed in the McCool area from 1936 until his retirement in 1999. He was married to Alberta Klone on December 30, 1936 at McCool. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool and enjoyed working on gas engines and John Deere tractors. Boyd also enjoyed his garden especially raising pumpkins. He loved flying and had his pilot’s license and his own plane. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis and her husband Neil West of McCool Jct.; grandchildren, Troy Young of Electra, TX., Terry Bailey and his wife Sally of York, Kyle Bailey and his wife Patricia of York, Brian West and his wife Jenny of McCool, Kelly West of Henrietta, NY.; 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Helen Hager of York, a sister-in-law, Greta (Russell) Arbuck of McCool and a granddaughter in law Rebecca Bailey of York. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, a daughter Linda, a son Richard, and a grandson Tim. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2005 at the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool Jct., with the Reverend Dick Woolard officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at McCool. Memorials may be directed to the church or cemetery. Visitation begins after 1:00 p.m., on Saturday at the mortuary.
