William Wray
William “W” L. Wray age 66 of York, NE died Saturday, May 09, 2009 at York.
He was born February 16, 1943 at Omaha, NE to Arthur and Dorothy (Lottes) Wray.
W worked for Mike Stuhr assembling grain bins and pivots for many years before joining Kroy Industries. He also flagged for Mike Bristol as well.
He was a member of the York Elks Lodge #1024 for 36 years and was an avid outdoorsman as he loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed playing pitch, shuffleboard and hunting for asparagus.
On August 3, 1968 he was married to Carolyn Mars at York.
He is survived by his son Jeff Wray of York, two daughters Brenda Wray and Sherri Wray both of Lincoln.
Four grandchildren, Trenton, Hailey, Hunter and Treyton Wray all of Lincoln.
Two brothers Richard “Dick” and his wife Suzanne Wray of Glenwood, IA and Jerome “Jerry” Wray of Council Bluffs, IA.
Three sisters Janet Turek and Marilyn and her husband Bob Beetem all of Lincoln and Barb and her husband Ray Gannon of York.
Also surviving is Daisy Abarr, W’s long time love was also known to his kids and grandkids as ‘Grandma Daisy.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Donna Kay and Cynthia Jean.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial was in St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery near York.
