Anthony Winter
Anthony J. Winter Jr., age 81, of Bradshaw, NE, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Lincoln, NE. He was born November 3, 1930 at York, NE to Anthony and Rosetta (Rhoedl) Winter Sr. He was a 1949 graduate of Bradshaw High School. Anthony was a veteran and served in the US Army during the Korean War. On September 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Esther Mae Kopke in York. The union was blessed with three children, Susan, Joe, and Shirley. Anthony was a lifelong farmer in the Bradshaw area. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York, the VFW, and the rural fire board. He enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a card club in Bradshaw for 35 years. He also collected both antique and miniature tractors. He enjoyed woodworking projects, attending farm sales and he especially loved his dogs.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Esther Mae of Bradshaw; children, Susan (Wayne) Deininger of Aurora, NE, Joe (Teresa) Winter of Bradshaw, and Shirley (Mike) Yates of Adams, NE; seven grandchildren include Kristine Deininger of Phoenix, AZ, Sheryl (Kyle) Lubischer of Lincoln, Daniel Winter of Laramie, WY, Benjamin Winter of Bradshaw, Justin Yates of Lincoln, Ashley Yates and Trey Yates of Adams. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Izabella Lubischer of Lincoln, and one nephew, Gene (Loa) Winter of Hampton, NE. Anthony also leaves behind his constant companion, his dog, George. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Martin and Paul.
Services were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. Military graveside services were held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, York.
Memorials may be directed to the family and will later be donated to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
