Catherine Willits

Catherine T. Willits, age 88, of Clarks, NE, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Osceola, NE. She was born August 23, 1919 in rural York NE to August P. and Catherine (Schneider) Deprez. She graduated from Maple Grove Rural School south of York. Catherine was united in marriage to Virgil Willits in York on December 7, 1968. She worked at Meehan’s Shoe store as well as J.C. Penney’s Store in York. Following her retirement in 1975, she and Virgil moved to an acreage on the Platte River near Clarks, NE. Catherine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York and the DOE’s, She enjoyed fishing with her husband, playing cards and spending the winters in their home in Arizona.

She is survived by her husband Virgil Willits of Clarks; brother Leo (Kathy) Deprez of York; sister-in-law, Leona Deprez of Lincoln, NE; four step-children: Vance of Grand Island, NE, Vicki of Tulari, CA, Vanita of Kalamazoo, MI, Vincent of Ocala, FL. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; six brothers: John, Henry, Joe, August Jr., Paul and Harold.

It was Catherine’s wish to be cremated so there was no viewing or visitation. Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Murray Johnston officiating. Inurnment followed at the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
