Rueben Wiemer

Rueben R. Wiemer, age 86, of York, NE, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Fairmont, NE. He was born March 29, 1924 in rural York County to Frederich and Alvina (Epke) Wiemer. He was baptized on April 20, 1924 and later confirmed on March 21, 1937 by the Reverend Ervin Hartman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica, NE. Rueben was united in marriage to Margaret Lemmon on April 20, 1947 at the home of Margaret’s parents in rural Bradshaw, NE. The union was blessed with two children, Sandra and Alan. Rueben resided and farmed in York County his entire life. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waco as well as a volunteer fireman for the Waco Fire Department. His hobbies included woodworking hunting, and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Margaret of Fairmont; daughter, Sandra (David) Goodrich of Lexington, NE; son, Alan (Sue) Wiemer of Yakima, WA; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving is one sister, Leona Weiss of McCool Jct., NE; one brother, Del Wiemer of York; one sister-in-law, Janice Anderson of Longmont, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Florence Heiden.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, Waco, NE. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
