John B. White
John B. White age 89 of McCool Jct, NE died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 11, 2006 after a one month battle with cancer.
He was born February ---- 1917 in Houston, NE to Jay and Margaret (Ehlers) White.
John joined the US Army in June of 1941 where he met and married Theo Campbell, his wife of 63 years in Zwolle Louisiana in August of 1942. They returned to McCool Jct and have resided there ever since. John had been in business for 62 years in McCool. He owned and operated White’s Service which included mechanic garage, service station and café. He also operated White’s Crane and Wrecker Service as well. He was known for his dedication, honesty and integrity in the business field. He also purchased and enjoyed every new electronic devise invented during his 62 years in business. He owned the first TV in the state of Nebraska months before channel 6 was broadcasting. He also was known as being a Ford man and never owned any other kind of vehicle. His love of animals was evident in his caring for his garage cats through the years. John was a gentle spirit and a man of few words, but to his immediate family he was a very special husband, father and grandfather. His spirit will always be among those of us who knew and loved him most.
He is survived by his wife Theo of McCool Jct., a son Johnny and his wife Alice White of Bakersfield, CA., granddaughters Mandy White of Brooklyn, New York and Ginger White of Davis, CA. one daughter LaMoine and her husband Bob Roth of York, grandson Ryan and his wife Liana Roth of Phoenix, AZ. Great grandson Hayden Roth and great granddaughter Erin Roth of Phoenix AZ, granddaughter Amber and her husband Jason Willard of England, Ark, a half brother James White of Osceola, NE and a sister and brother in law Thelma and Max Biegert of Paradise Valley, AZ and a sister and brother in law Inetta and her husband Barney Campbell of Zwolle, LA and a brother in law Dale Plugge of Columbus, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Dorothy Flagalle and Margie Johns of Colorado, one half sister Betty Plugge of Columbus. Special aunt and uncle Agnes and Francis Foley of McCool.
Mass of Christian burial was Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCool Jct where he attended for 89 years. Interment was at St Joseph’s Cemetery east of York. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Adopt a Pet Building Fund in York.
