Velma Whiteford

Velma M. Whiteford age 84 of York, NE died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at York. She was born September 12, 1921 at Limon, CO to Charles and Pansey (Vaughn) Andrew. Velma was a longtime York area cook and had also helped build gas tanks on P-38 aircraft during World War II. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in York and enjoyed doing embroidery. On August 25, 1953 she was married to George Whiteford in New Mexico. She is survived by two sons, Merlin Tannahill and George Whiteford both of York. Three daughters, Kay Hildebrand of York, Beverly and Harold Staples of Simi Valley, CA and Donice and Gary Lacy of Fullerton, CA. 21 Grandchildren 20 Great Grandchildren 9 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Carol, two sisters, two brothers and a grandson. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
