Connie White

Connie J. White age 72 of McCool Junction, Nebraska died Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Lincoln, NE. She was born May 19, 1939 to Reuben A. and Marcella (Thomason) Hofmann in Fairmont. Connie was a graduate of McCool Junction High School. She was united in marriage to Joseph C. White on May 21, 1959 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCool.

While living in Dryden, Michigan, Connie was the Dryden High School secretary from 1973-1979. She and Joe moved back to Nebraska and she worked in the insurance business for Otoupal Insurance and then York Insurance Company until her retirement in 2004. She also served as Village Clerk for McCool Junction. Connie was on the McCool School Board; Past-President, member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar Society; Past-President, McCool Community Church Women; Treasurer, past member of the McCool Zoning and Planning Commission and a member of the Ronald Porter Unit 341 American Legion Auxiliary. Through the Auxiliary, she was instrumental in helping start a program to send care packages to the troops. Connie helped serve senior meals, enjoyed gardening and flowers, and loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas. Connie’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband Joe of McCool; children: Doreen (Tom) Luethje of Bradshaw, NE, Brian (Jackie) White of McCool, Jeff (Julie) White of McCool, Ray (Marilyn) White of McCool; grandchildren: Christopher Luethje and his fiancé Ashley Cappell of Bradshaw, Megan and Jessica Luethje of Omaha, NE, Brennan and Mikaela White of McCool, Dr. Nicky White and her husband Dr. Brett Eimermann of York, NE and their children Colt and Crue, Tacia White of York, Conor White of McCool, Samantha White and her fiancé Matt Thurber of Manhattan, KS, and Benjamin White of McCool. Connie is also survived by two sisters Barbara Morris of Lincoln and Vicki Jacobsen of McCool, sisters-in-law, Carol Smith and Lorraine Green and husband Dale and brother-in-law Thomas R. White, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Donna May Hofmann, and brother Harold “Bud” Hofmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with the Reverends Robert Barnhill and Thomas Kuffel officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, York. A Rosary was said at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCool Junction. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, York Adopt-a Pet or St. Patrick’s Church in McCool Jct.
