Lorene Wendt
Lorene Wendt age 88 of York, NE died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at York.
She was born August 31, 1920 at Harvard, NE to Merle V. and Nellie Mae (Farmer), Farmer. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1937 and then attended one year at Kearney State College where she attained her teaching certificate. She taught at Eldorado, NE for one year. Lorene was then a part time file clerk at the York Medical Clinic from 1975 until her retirement in 1990.
Lorene was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in York and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed dancing and was in a pinochle club as well. Lorene also loved being with her family attending all of their activities.
On April 17, 1945 she was married to Vernon H. Wendt at Beloit, KS.
She is survived by her son Dr Stephen and his wife Patricia Wendt of Fremont, NE, her three daughters Karen and her husband Jerry Snodgrass of York, Shirley and her husband Robert Milton of Friend, NE and Mary and her husband Russ Kuhn of Columbus, NE
Her Sisters-in-law include Leila Spicer of Everton, Mo and Doris Dye and her husband Joe of LaVista, NE. Her ten grandchildren include; Bryan Snodgrass of Lincoln, Steph Snodgrass of York, Bobbi Milton of Las Vegas, NV, Stacey Snodgrass of Oklahoma City, OK, Gina and her husband Todd Johnson of Friend, NE, LeAnne and her husband Matt Parr of Omaha, NE Mike Wendt of Fremont, NE Jeff and his wife Sara Kuhn of Beemer, NE, Trisha and her husband Josh Berry of Lincoln and Tom Wendt of Fremont.
Also surviving are her Eleven Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two granddaughters; Lori Ann Milton and Kayla Marie Wendt and her sister Hazel Yost.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Friday, May 29, 2009 at the First United Church in York with the Reverends Art Phillips and Jeff Wulf officiating. Graveside services were at 2:30 pm Friday afternoon at the Harvard Cemetery at Harvard, NE.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in York or to the donor’s choice.
