Alice Walker

Alice M. Walker, age 66, of York, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006 at York. She was born September 4, 1939 in David City, NE to Harry and Marie (Theewen) DeWispelare. On September 20, 1957 she was married to Melvin C. Walker at Geneva, NE. Alice worked at Cornerstone Bank for 43 years and retired as an officer in 2005. During her employment she held many different positions at the bank. After her retirement, she began working for Progressive Sheet Metal in Seward, NE as their Chief Financial Officer.

Alice is survived by two daughters; Roxanne M. (Dirk) Todd of Lake Ozark, MO, and Laurie J. (Don) Peek of Seward; Grandchildren, Ashlee (Jeff) Rindone of Lincoln, Austin Todd of Lincoln, and Alex and Jared Peek of Seward; Brothers, Joe (LaDonna) DeWispelare of David City, Kenny (Dorothy) DeWispelare of David City, Harry (Cheryl) DeWispelare of Fremont, Larry (Janet) DeWispelare of David City, and Cork (Sharon) DeWispelare of David City; and one sister, Norma Jean (John) Peters of David City. Preceding her in death are her parents, and husband, Melvin.

Memorial service was held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Metz Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family.
