Vera Vice

Vera Irene Vice age 67 of York, NE died Friday, June 20, 2008 at her home in York. She was born October 11, 1940 in Omaha, NE to William and Melvina (Clark) Hammond. On September 2, 1989 Vera was united in marriage to Noel D. Vice in York.

Vera worked as a pilot escort for her husband’s trucking company. She was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene in York. Vera loved flowers, animals, and being outdoors. She took care of her family and her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Left to cherish her memory is her best friend and husband, Noel of York; daughter Ruthie (Drew) Anderson of Papillion, NE; step-children: Delyn Vice of York; Valarie (John) Munn of York; Cindy (Mike) Dubas of York; and Marsha (Pat) Romero of Republic, MO; 17 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers Jack (Pauline) Hammond of Council Bluffs, IA and Joe (Josie) Hammond of Omaha; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson David.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the New Life Church of the Nazarene with the Reverend Stephen Sheets officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
