Louise Vernon

Louise E. Vernon age 85 of York, NE formerly of Benedict died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at York. She was born October 2, 1922 in rural Benedict, NE to Paul and Dorothea (Junge) Heitman and was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Benedict. Louise graduated from Benedict High School in 1940 and then attended York College until 1941 where she attained her normal training to be a teacher. She later graduated from the Grand Island School of Business in 1962. Louise was a longtime teacher having taught in several places. She also was employed at the Egg Plant in York ? and also at grocery stores in Osceola and Stromsburg just before her retirement. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, working with her sewing and she thoroughly enjoyed being around music. On September 27, 1948 she was married to Lauren A. Vernon.

She is survived by her son Ray and his wife Vicki Vernon of Wichita, KS three daughters; Donita and her husband Richard Mains of North Platte, NE, Karen L. and her husband Rick Dolezal of Lincoln, NE and Chandra and her husband Jim Mason of Pueblo, CO. Six Grandchildren Four Great Grandchildren Also surviving is her sister Evelyn Hans of Grand Island, NE and two nieces; Judy and her husband Myron Kouba of Kearney, NE and Debbie and her husband Ron Morse of Grand Island, NE She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benedict with Leroy Hoyer officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery northeast of Benedict with memorials being directed to Zion Lutheran Church at Benedict.
