Jean Tuttle
Jean E. Tuttle age 85, of York, NE, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Lincoln, NE. She was born March 23, 1925 at Geneva, NE to O. Jerome “OJ” and Ruth (Apley) Wood. Following high school, Jean received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska. Jean and Gale L. Tuttle were married in Pender, NE in 1948. Jean was a social worker in the York area until 1959 when she and Gale moved to Littleton, CO. While there she was a social worker for Arapahoe County. Jean later attended Denver University where she received her Master’s Degree. She then was the director of the State of Colorado Foster Childcare Program, as well as a member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee for Planned Parenthood. Following retirement, Jean and Gale returned to York in 1995. Jean enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and attending sporting events. She was a member of the Garden Club and the York Senior Fun Club.
Survivors include her husband Gale of York; two daughters, Anita Tuttle-Bachman of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Cathy and her husband Edward Buonaiuto of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren, Joseph Buonaiuto and Jennifer Buonaiuto of Aurora, CO; cousins and a host of friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Jean’s body was cremated following the service. Memorials may be directed to the church.
