LeRoy Tonniges

LeRoy Tonniges age 75 of York died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Exeter Care Center in Exeter, NE. He was born May 14th, 1931 in Gresham, NE to Wilhelm Gustav Herman Tonniges and Ester Caroline Suhr. He married Janis Kathryn Husbands on July 29, 1951. LeRoy worked for the York County Rural Public Power District, Mead Lumber and for the late Don Robson of York. Upon retirement, LeRoy and his wife Janis wintered in south Texas for many years. LeRoy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York, the York Masonic Lodge #56 and the Shriners.

He is survived by his sons Richard and his wife Cheryl Tonniges of Kearney, NE and their children Drew and his wife Krista Tonniges of St. Louis, MO, Kyle Tonniges of Lincoln and Ashley Tonniges of Kearney; David and his wife Rochelle Tonniges of Lincoln and their children Megan and her husband Scott Witt and their daughter Mallory of Lincoln and Trevor Tonniges of Lincoln; daughter Connie Grosse of York and her children, Elliott and his wife Emily Grosse of Lincoln and Carrie Brindley also of Lincoln; brother Melvin Tonniges of Gresham, NE. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janis and sister Mildred Naber.

Services were held Monday, August 14, 2006 at the Metz Chapel in York. Inurnment was in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Gresham, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family.
