Janis Tonniges
Janis K. Tonniges age 72 of York, Nebraska died Monday, April 18, 2005 at York.
She was born June 18, 1932 at Kansas City, Missouri and was later adopted by Earl and Margaret (Davidson) Husbands.
Janis was employed at Champion Home Builders for a number of years before joining Nebraska Public Power District where she worked for over 20 years. She also worked at Chances R as a hostess as well. Janis was a member of First Presbyterian Church in York, enjoyed playing cards with her friends, cross stitching, needlework, camping and cooking for others. She also enjoyed shopping with her friends and was formerly a member of the Eastern Star.
On July 29, 1951 she was married to LeRoy W. Tonniges at Gresham.
She is survived by her husband LeRoy of York, two sons Rich and his wife Cheryl Tonniges of Kearney and Dave and his wife Rochelle Tonniges of Lincoln. One daughter Connie Grosse and her friend Paul Vrbka of York.
Seven Grandchildren, Drew Tonniges, Kyle Tonniges and Ashley Tonniges all of Kearney, Megan Tonniges and Trevor Tonniges of Lincoln and Elliott Grosse and Carrie Grosse both of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Michael Eickhoff officiating with burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery at Gresham. Memorials were directed to the church.
