Esther Tonner

Esther Marie Christina Tonner age 93 of York, NE died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at York. Esther was born East of Lynch in rural Boyd Co Nebraska on April 14th 1912 to Mads (Eric) and Carrie (Christensen) Nielsen. She graduated from Lynch High School in 1930. She had completed normal training in high school and began her teaching career that fall and continued to teach for 6 years in rural schools in the Lynch area. On December 31, 1936 she married Homer C. Tonner at Tyndall, SD. Three children were born to this union, Carol, Gordon and Linda. Esther was a long time member of the Lynch Methodist Church, Harmony Club and the Monowi and Lynch United Methodist Woman. She is survived by one son Gordon and his wife Kathy Tonner of Sioux Falls, S.D. two daughters Carol Tienken of York and Linda and her husband Ralph Hasselquist of Omaha. 7 Grandchildren, Brent and his wife Tracy Tonner of Esko, MN, Sheri Tonner of Enterprise, AL, Kristi and her husband Don Nimick of Sioux Falls, S.D, Carla and her husband Kevin Pinneo, Jennifer and her husband Trent Heiser and Keri and her husband Joe Badura all of Lincoln, NE, and Heath Hasselquist of Omaha. 9 Great Grandchildren, Ryan Nimick of Sioux Falls, S.D, Maegan Nimick of Sioux Falls, S.D., Katie Tonner and Matthew Tonner both of Esko, MN, Lundon Pinneo, Micheala Pinneo, Hanna Pinneo and Noelle Pinneo all of Lincoln and Traven Heiser also of Lincoln. One sister-in-law Maxine Nielsen of Lynch, NE and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son in law Robert Tienken, a granddaughter Robin Tienken, two brothers Leonard and Delbert, and her sister Pearl.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery near York.
