JoAnn Thompson

JoAnn Thompson age 80 of Schleswig, IA formerly of York, NE died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Dennison, IA. She was born August 30, 1928 at York, NE to Nicholas and Nora (Moore) Wilger. JoAnn was formerly a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. She enjoyed the Friday Night Ladies Get Togethers, gardening, picnics and animals of all kinds. JoAnn was united in marriage on December 29, 1950 to Robert G. Thompson at York.

Survivors include her son Robert L Thompson and friend Amy Schlegelmilch of York and her daughter Connie and husband Joe Yirkovsky of Schleswig, IA; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo and husband Dan Jones of Atlantic, IA, Jesse Yirkovsky of Dennison IA, Nicholas Yirkovsky of Schleswig, IA, and Tricia Thompson of Lincoln, NE. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Chase and Chad Jones of Atlantic, IA, and many nieces, nephews and friends Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and three sisters.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 A.M Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with burial in St Joseph’s Cemetery. It was JoAnn’s wish to be cremated so there was no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
