Eugene Tesar

Eugene "Gene" Tesar age 77 of Lincoln formerly of York died Friday, May 28, 2004 at Lincoln.

He was born June 17, 1926 in Leigh, NE., to John and Agnes (LaPour) Tesar. Gene was retired from Kroy Industries in York where he was the Purchasing Agent and Transportation Manager from 1966 until his retirement in 1989. Prior to that he was employed by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad Company from 1946 to 1966. Gene was the youngest of 4 brothers, all of whom served in different branches of the service during WW II. Gene served in the Marine Corp and was one of the youngest sergeants, serving in the South Pacific including the Battle of Okinawa.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, piano and his accordion. He was also an avid outdoorsman especially enjoying hunting and fishing and loved watching western movies. On November 25, 1950 he was married to Genevieve Cunningham in Denver, CO.

He is survived by his wife Gen of Lincoln, son Brian Tesar of Milwaukee, WI, three daughters Marilyn (Phil) Sutko of Lincoln, Christina (Dave) Turner of Ankeny, IA and Michele Tesar of Newport Beach, CA. Five Grandchildren; Jeff DeBoer and Jill DeBoer of Lincoln, Joe Sutko of Lincoln, Jackson Turner and Celina Turner both of Ankeny, IA. Two Great Grandchildren include Maci Zieger of Lincoln and Ashlyn DeBoer also of Lincoln. One Brother John (Dorothy) Tesar of Aurora, CO. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, 2 brothers and a daughter in law.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Arthritis Foundation or to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. A Rosary service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., at the mortuary. Visitation begins after 1:00 p.m., on Monday.
