Phyllis Svatos

Phyllis J. Svatos, age 89 of Lincoln, longtime York resident, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Lincoln. She was born June 17, 1916 at Geneva, NE to Charles and Elizabeth McCashland and was a Geneva High School graduate. Phyllis was married to LaVelle Svatos at Council Bluffs, IA on August 25, 1936. They owned and operated Swatty’s Superette in York for many years. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church at York. The last several years she lived at Mahoney House in York and then Lancaster Manor in Lincoln. Survivors include her sons; Roger Svatos of Lincoln and Richard (Pam) Svatos of Rockford, IL; her daughter RuthAnn (Don) Smith of Weiser, ID; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 4 step- great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Visitation will begin Monday at noon and family will greet friends from 6-8 pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Assn.
