Dona Sullivan

Dona J. Sullivan age 75 of Waco died early Tuesday morning August 26, 2008 at Henderson Health Care Hospital in Henderson, Nebraska. Dona was born September 27, 1932 to Heinrich and Leona Von Minden (Leybold). She graduated from Waco High School in 1950. She then attended Lincoln General School of Nursing and graduated in 1953.

She worked in a variety of nursing positions for York General Hospital from 1954 until her retirement. She worked in the nursing profession for 50 years before retirement. She also enjoyed working part time at Rivendale at Seward, Bryan Memorial Hospital, The Henderson Hospital, Crestview Nursing Home in Milford, and the Utica Care Center. The nursing profession was very important to her. She not only loved and respected the profession, she was exceptional at it. She was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, Lincoln General Alumni, The American Heart Association, The Nebraska Organization of Nurse Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives.

She was united in marriage to Jim Sullivan on January 10, 1953. She and Jim lived and farmed outside of Waco for 55 years. She loved her family deeply as they do her. They were blessed with two sons and one daughter. Some of her favorite memories were of family vacations, holiday gatherings, and cheering on her children and grandchildren at sporting events. Any occasion where family and friends could get together and share quality time and maybe some homemade ice cream was special to her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband James of Waco; children Gary (Sue) Sullivan of Waco, Kevin (Brenda) of Utica, Kiley (Dan) MacLeod of San Luis Obispo, CA;Granddaughter and spouse Andrea and Trent Chrisman of Lincoln; Grandchildren Joshua, Dylan, Jordan, Mackenzie, Connor, Trevor, Kassidy, and Lindsey; Great grandchildren Jace and Mya. Along with numerous other relatives, colleagues, and friends. Dona was preceded in death by her parents Heine and Leona and her sister Judy Seilhan.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, NE. Graveside Services were at the Waco Cemetery Memorials may be directed to the family. Memorials will be designated at a later time.
