Ruth Stoddard

Ruth I. Stoddard, age 98 of York, died December 10, 2005 at York. She was born to Charles Melvin and Lulu Valerie (Bauer) Cavender on August 4, 1907 at Benedict, Nebraska. Ruth was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Stoddard on November 22, 1931 at Minneapolis, Kansas. Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York. She was a homemaker, taught school for six years, and worked as a clerk for J.C. Penny’s and J.M. McDonalds ten years each. She was a member of the Retired Teachers organization and United Presbyterian Women. Ruth valued her immediate family, her extended family, and all of her friends. Her goal in life was focused on being the best wife, mother, and grandmother she could be to her family. She absolutely cherished the time spent doting on her grandchildren. Ruth is survived by three sons: Ronald Dean (Glenva) Stoddard of Lincoln, Denis Lee (Nancy) Stoddard of Afton, MN, and Kenneth Robert Stoddard (Mary Anne) of Gold Beach, OR; three grandchildren: Jody (Courtney) Gensler of Wahoo, NE, Ronald (Libby) Stoddard of Overland Park, KS, and Gail (Jeff) Wightman of Lexington, NE; nine great-grandchildren; niece Mary Lue Binning of South Bend, IN; and nephew Donald Parker of Harrison, AR. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers Maurice and Frank, and two sisters Madelin and Dorothy. Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December13, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Michael Eickhoff officiating.
