Anne Stinson
Anne M. (Bramman) Stinson, long time York resident, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at Fairview Manor with family at her bedside. Anne was born in Vesta, Nebraska on November 12, 1921. Her family moved to Tecumseh, where she graduated from Tecumseh High School. Anne married Frederick S. Stinson and to this union were born five children. They settled in York where Fred was a barber by trade. Widowed in 1951, Anne worked at York General Hospital and York County Public Power District before starting her own business in York. Anne was also a member of the York City council for three terms. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in York and active in the church circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years.
Anne is survived by one son Gene and three daughters-in-law, Kay, Jean, and Karleen. Also surviving are six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and all the children of Fairview Manor Daycare who fondly knew her as Grandma Cookie. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Frederick, two infant children, two sons, Robert and Jerry, grandson Patrick, two sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Burial followed in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.
