James Steube

James A. Steube age 81 of York, NE died Friday, July 25, 2008 at Grand Island, NE. Jim was born October 8, 1926 in York to Paul A. and Thelma (Voyles) Steube and graduated from York High School class of 1944. In 1947 he graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy at Lincoln. On November 2, 1947 he was married to Mary Smyers in York. A World War II Army veteran, he was a longtime York area pharmacist at the Bell Clinic for over 25 years. Jim was a member and past-exalted ruler of the York Elks Lodge #1024, a member of the American Legion Bolton Post #19 and served one term on the York City Council. He also enjoyed traveling and reading.

He is survived by his wife Mary of York, his three sons, James Michael Steube of York, Patrick Steube of Bangkok, Thailand and Steve and his wife Alicia Steube of Pasadena, TX. Grandchildren include; Michele and her husband Ryan Blaser of Columbus, Dane Steube of Lincoln, Tara and her husband John Homolka of York, Alan Steube of Lincoln, Krista Steube of Houston, TX. Great grandchildren are Whitley and Wilder Homolka of York, Aidyn Blaser of Columbus. Also surviving is his brother Paul and his wife Sandra Steube of Plattsmouth, NE, Five nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Connie.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Arbor Drive Community Church in York with Ralph Brumbaugh officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to Adopt-A-Pet in York.
