Imogene Steingard

Imogene A. Steingard age 93 of York, NE died Friday, November 18, 2011 at York. She was born February 8, 1918 in York to Harry C. and Ethel M (Kirwan) Hall and graduated from York High School. Imogene was employed by Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph in York for fourteen years before joining Deluxe Cleaners where she was employed for over thirty years. She was an active lifetime member of the First Christian Church in York On June 12, 1940 she was married to John William “Bill” Foley at Marysville, KS until his death on February 18, 1954. Then she was married to Jake A. Steingard on August 2, 1955 at York. He passed away on March 26, 1983.

She is survived by two daughters: Karren Samson of York and Sharon and her husband Stew Jordal of Lincoln, NE; her grandchildren include: Brenda and her husband Norman Williams of Argyle, TX, Steven and his wife Lisa Samson of York, Sheryl and her husband Mark Dennehy of Irving, TX, Lisa and her husband Jay Horak of Phoenix, AZ, Lori Jordal of Bentonville, AK, Jason and his wife Karen Friesen of Grimes, IA, Terri and her husband Darren Brumbaugh of Bradshaw, NE, Lance Friesen of Lincoln and Jordan and his wife Dena Grantham of Giltner, NE; and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a son-in-law Rondell and his wife Jeanette Friesen of Aurora, NE; brother Elroy Hall of Greenville, N.C; sisters-in-law, Edith Buller and Darlene Steingard of Henderson, NE; nieces, Linda Hall of Richmond, VA and Nancy and husband Jim Tripp of Greenville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her daughter Debbie Friesen, sister Marion Hall, granddaughter Leann Jordal and her son-in-law Richard Samson.

Memorials services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at First Christian Church in York. Private family interment was held in Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church or to the York Community Foundation.
