Eleanor Steever

Eleanor L. Steever age 91 of Bradshaw, NE died Saturday, January 05, 2008 at York. She was born March 10, 1916 at Kilgore, NE to John and Josephine (Koralewski) Stasch. She graduated from Cody High School in 1934 and then from Chadron State College in 1938. Eleanor was a longtime secretary at the First Trust Insurance Department in York for over 25 years. She was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in York, the Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society, the York American Legion Auxiliary, the Bradshaw Senior Citizens Group and the Bradshaw V.F.W. Auxiliary as well. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and reading. On October 24, 1941 she was married to John L. Steever at Chadron, NE.

She is survived by three sons; John L. and his wife Jacque Steever Jr of San Marcos, CA, Richard J and his wife Cheryl Steever of York, and Charles E. and his wife Dee Steever of Bradshaw. Two daughters, Jeanne L. and her husband Ray Callahan of Newbury Park, CA and Mary S. Steever of West Virginia. Her grandchildren include Nathan and his wife Marjorie Steever of York, Valerie and her husband Joel Dorfmeyer of Lincoln, Karley Steever of Lincoln, Kasey Steever of Omaha and Cody Steever of Lincoln. Two great grandchildren include Maxwell Dorfmeyer and Samuel Dorfmeyer both of Lincoln. Also surviving is a brother John L and his wife Delores Stasch of Sidney, NE and a sister-in-law Valda Stasch of Crawford, NE She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, three brothers Don, Ed and Leo Stasch, and her three sisters Rose Moss, Agnes Stasch and Regina Bates.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with Father Mark Tasler officiating with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
