Robert Spore
Robert G. Spore of York, NE died August 5, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, NE at age 93. He was born February 9, 1917 near Sylvia, KS to Rev. Clarence and Minnie (Buswell) Spore. He grew up in York and graduated from York High School and York College. In May 1939, he married Helen Hoit of Cowles, NE.
He was a teacher for 14 years, worked for electrical utilities for 15 years, and for architectural engineering firms for 11 years. He was a communications officer in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the East Avenue Methodist Church of York.
He is survived by his daughter Rebekah and Roger Clocker of Wadsworth, Ohio; sons Robert L and Margot (Myers) Spore of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Allen and Susan (Stuckey) Spore of Oakland, California, Charles and Patricia (Hansen) Spore of Hastings, Nebraska, and William and Janet (Read) Spore of Keller, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and one brother, his wife of 61 years, and special friend, Winifred Oglesby.
A Memorial Service was held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at Metz Mortuary in York. There was no burial as Mr. Spore was donated to the University of Nebraska Medical College. Memorials may be directed to Johnson Lake EMS.
