Larry Smith Sr.

Larry Smith Sr. age 62 of York, NE died Friday, January 6, 2006 at York. He was born March 30, 1943 at Arlington, NE to Fred and Mayetta (Christensen) Smith. Larry was a longtime York area truck driver having been employed by Overland Sand and Gravel and the United Farmers Cooperative in York retiring in 1999.

Larry enjoyed going to the horse races and playing Keno in his spare time. On May 20, 1961 he was married to Carol Collingham at Council Bluffs, IA. He is survived by his wife Carol of York, two sons, Larry Jr. and his wife Dee Smith of Lincoln and Richard Smith of Elkhart, IN. Two daughters Melinda and her husband Randy Collingham of Henderson and Joanne and her husband Kraig Heiden of Parker, CO; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Gary and his wife Linda Smith of York and Jerry and his wife Marilyn Smith of Dorchester, NE. Three sisters Janet Rose of Lincoln, Charlotte and her husband Roger Wessels and Sharon and her husband Donald Taylor all of York and his mother in law Joanne Collingham of York. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father in law.

His body was cremated with private family services held at a later time. Memorials may be directed to the family.
