Harold Smith
Harold F. Smith Jr, 84, of Lincoln, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his home in Lincoln. Harold was born to Harold and Mabel (Wolstenholm) Smith on March 14, 1926 on a farm near McCool Junction. He attended and graduated from McCool High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years. Harold farmed and was a rural mail carrier for over 42 years.
During his life, Harold was an active member of the either the Fairmont Community Church or McCool Methodist Church. Harold was married to Imogene E. Bowersock at Fairmont, on August 18, 1946. To this union three daughters were born – Linda, Sharon and Marcia.
Harold is survived by three daughters, Linda (Stephen) Miles of Lincoln, Sharon (Michael) Olson of McCool Junction, Marcia J. Smith and special friend Cyndija Jaudzimis of Lincoln, and faithful companions Hoss and Little Joe; two granddaughters, Monica (Carl) Steffens of Lincoln, Amber (Michael) Gibson of Wichita KS, one grandson, Jerod (Sara) Olson of Seward, four great grandchildren, Ella and Matthew Steffens and Cameron and Creighton Olson, sister-in-law Patricia Smith and special friend Don Matthies of San Diego CA, niece Deborah Brinkman of Santa Clarita, CA and nephew Greg Smith of San Diego CA, three great nieces, one great nephew and two great great nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Methodist Church in McCool Junction. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials to the family for future designation.
