Alferd E. Smith

Alferd E. Smith, age 73 of Henderson, NE died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Henderson. He was born January 15, 1930 to Henry H. and Margaret (Friesen) Smith. On September 27, 1951 he was united in marriage to Marlyss Siebert at Henderson. Alferd was a longtime York County farmer and a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. He loved working with wood and made many items for his family as well as spending many happy hours fishing and enjoying nature.

He is survived his daughters, Gwendolyn and her husband Dale Trim of Tucson, AZ, Barbara and her husband Larry Senff of York; grandchildren, Jason and Brandon Trim both of Tucson, AZ, Laura Senff of Stromsburg, NE, and Catherine (Stacey) Orlando of York. He is also survived by one brother, Harvey (Marjorie) Smith of Henderson; one sister, Doris (Jodie) Ward of York; one brother-in-law, Dexter Huber of York; many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife.

Funeral services were held on Thursday 10:30 am, January 8, 2004 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Revs. Weldon Martens and George Kaufman. Interment was in the church cemetery.
