Anthony “Tony” H. Smejkal

Anthony “Tony” H. Smejkal age 86 of York died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at York. He was born December 23, 1917 at Wilbur, NE., to John and Rose (Fillipi) Smejkal. Tony was a longtime employee of the A.J. Dresden Company for over 26 years and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York as well. He enjoyed singing in the Men’s Choir in church, enjoyed playing the organ, gardening and was an avid cook. On June 14, 1939 he was married to Marian D. Cerha at Crete, NE.

He is survived by two sons, Ken (Donna) Smejkal & Rich Smejkal both of Cedar Rapids, IA. One daughter Rose Mary and her husband Harold Jr. “Bud” Deprez of Riverdale, NE; 4 grandsons; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Leo Seiker officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
