John Slot

John E. Slot, age 99 of York, NE died, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at York. He was born March 15, 1911 to John and Minnie Stacey (Nance) Slot at Firth, NE. John was a United States Army Sergeant, serving his country during WWII. On March 31, 1942, he was united in marriage to Velma L. Winkle in Beatrice, NE.

John is survived by children: Eloise Wiebe of Portland, OR; Alice and her husband John White of Bakersfield, CA; Edward Slot and his wife Stella of Louisburg, KS; Beth and her husband Bob Dietz of Alma, NE; and Catherine and her husband Richard Petrie of Omaha, NE; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters Fern, Ethel, and Mary, and brother Ralph, son-in-law Donald Wiebe, and two grandchildren, Kevin and Todd Wiebe.

Celebration of life services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Baptist Congregational Church in York. Inurnment was the same day at 1:30 p.m. at the McCool Cemetery in McCool Jct., NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
