Clarence Sloan
Clarence T. Sloan, age 91 of York, Nebraska, died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at York. He was born on October 5, 1915 to Thomas Milton and Eliza (Johnston) Sloan in Polk County, Nebraska. On May 26, 1942 he was united in marriage to Florence M. Eklund in Osceola, Nebraska. Clarence farmed and then worked for International Harvester as a mechanic for 32 years. He was a member of the United States Army. Clarence enjoyed the outdoors, as he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed boating and camping. He was a wood worker, gardener, and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, Clarence cherished the time spent with his family.
Clarence is survived by six children: Gary (Maureen) Sloan of York; Dale (Deb) Sloan of York; Beverly (Jerry) Troutman of York; Shirley (Joe) Plock of McCool Jct.; Paul A. (Kim) Sloan of York; and Robert Sloan of York. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one nephew, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, one daughter, two grandsons, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial was at the Stromsburg Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
