Phyllis Slaybaugh

Phyllis M. Slaybaugh, age 84, of York, NE, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at York. She was born January 6, 1926 at Guthrie Center, IA to Gerald and Burma (Brumbaugh) Slaybaugh. Phyllis worked as a secretary at the Federal Land Bank and REC in Guthrie Center. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed music, reading and needlework.

Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Purviance of Johnston, IA and Clarice Robinson of York, NE; sister-in-law Marilyn Slaybaugh of Mesa, AZ; eight nieces and nephews, Sheri Slaybaugh of Mesa, AZ, Kevin Slaybaugh of Des Moines, IA. Scott Slaybaugh of Mesa, AZ, Carl F. Benner Jr. of Cannon City, CO, Jane (Loren) Valentin of Blanchard, OK, Elizabeth (Robb) McAdam of Des Moines, IA, Jackie (Ronald) Petersen of Crystal Lake, IL, and Diana (Byron) Schlueter of York, NE. She is also survived by six great-nieces and nephews and eighteen great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, Robert.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Union Cemetery, Guthrie Center, IA with the Reverend Ronald Petersen officiating. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church in York.
