Helena Siebert
Helena C. Siebert was born November 20, 1912 to Cornelius and Helena (Funk) Siebert, on a farm near Lushton, NE. She died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Henderson Care Center.
Helena attended country school near her home and graduated from Henderson High School in 1934. She also taught country school, District 73 West, for a few years. She attended Freeman College in Freeman, SD, Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, and Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL.
In 1945, she left Henderson to teach a mission school in Zambia, Africa. She lived there 40 years. Before she arrived in Zambia, her brother Aaron and his daughter were already killed in a car accident. He had promised to help with her support.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers John C. (Minnie) Siebert, Peter (Lenora) Siebert, Henry Siebert, Cornelius (Emma) Siebert, Abe (Helen) Siebert, Aaron (Hattie) Siebert, Theodore Siebert, Jacob Siebert, and sisters Marie Siebert, Rose (Issac) Epp, Margaret (Ray) Mierau, Sarah (Herman) Penner, and nieces and nephews who were always special to her, keeping up with them by way of the Henderson News. We would like to thank the Henderson Care Center for their loving care.
Graveside services were held 9:45 AM, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Siebert Buller Cemetery
southeast of Henderson with Memorial services following at 10:30 AM at Bethesda Mennonite Church,
