Leonard D. Shockey

Leonard D. Shockey, age 77 of York, died Monday, August 23, 2004. He was born April 1, 1927 in Polk County to John P. and Pearl L. (Colby) Shockey. Leonard was married to Glennis E. Hotchkiss on February 29, 1948 at Stromsburg and he was a Navy veteran of WWII. Leonard worked as an auto mechanic, auto body repairman and later as a car salesman at Laird Motor and Moses Motor in York. He later worked at Champion Home Builders and for the last 10 years has worked at the York Wal-Mart.

Survivors include his daughter Nancy (Karel S.) Sysel of Lincoln and his son Steven (Lucy) Shockey of Lincoln; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Glennis and brothers, Floyd and Maurice.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:30 am at the Metz chapel in York with the Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York.
