Glen Shockey

Glen R. Shockey, age 71 of York, NE died Friday, July 15, 2011 at York. He was born March 30, 1940 to Raymond Russell and Florence Mathilda (Patraw) Shockey at rural Bradshaw, NE. He was a graduate of York High School. On June 18, 1965, Glen was united in marriage to Connie K. Bolte in York, NE. Glen was a lifelong carpenter and previously worked for Sahling-Kenworth in the maintenance department. He was a past member of the Isaac Walton League and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He enjoyed woodworking and attending auctions, always looking to recycle old material. He always looked forward to coffee with his friends, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Glen is survived by his wife Connie of York; son Russell Shockey of York; daughter Deanne and her husband Adam Hamilton of Lincoln; six grandchildren: Shane and Nora Shockey, Alex Shockey, and Madison Shockey, all of York, Mariah and Caleb Hamilton of Lincoln; and sisters-in-law Jean Shockey of Lincoln, Mary Ann (Mike) Bristol of Thayer, and Dee Quiring of York. Also surviving are special friends Gene Miller, Larry Kohtz, Clarence Hoffman, Betsy Winquest, and all of his coffee shop buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Shockey; father and mother-in-law Walter and Verna Bolte, and brother-in-law Myron Bolte.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 18, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
