Rose Sherman

Rose Marie Sherman, age 83, of York, NE, formerly of Benedict, NE, joined her Savior and loved ones Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at York. She was born May 31, 1925 in Seward County, NE to John and Kristina (Babacek) Styskal and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Benedict. Rose enjoyed sewing, gardening, writing and playing pitch with her friends. She also loved crossword puzzles and scrabble. On September 25, 1953 she was married to Virgil E. Sherman at Beatrice, NE.

She is survived by her daughter Laurie and her husband Dennis Burling of Lincoln, NE Two grandchildren Eric Burling and Stacey Burling both of Lincoln. Three sisters in law Lavelle Chase of Tennessee, Vivian Rich of Arizona and Dorothy Sherman of Texas. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil, two brothers Frank and John and two sisters Adeline Erks and Alice McRae.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Zion Lutheran Church at Benedict with Leroy Hoyer officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Benedict. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or to the family for later designation.
