Joy Sherman

Joy Marie Sherman, age 48, of York died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at York. Joy Marie was born April 9, 1958 in Stromsburg, NE to Robert and Mildred (Kopke) Barr. She graduated from Bradshaw high school in 1976. She worked at the York Country Club for eight years, as a salad chef, until she became a full time mother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York. She enjoyed flowers, making crafts, animals, and attending her children’s sporting events. Most of all, Joy Marie will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband Karl and two sons: Steven and Jason, all of York; her parents; one brother Tim (Lori) Barr of Henderson, NE; father-in-law Tom Sherman of Marquette, NE; sister-in-law Charlotte Foulk of Marquette, NE; and brother-in-law Jim (Chau) Sherman of Vietnam. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Michael Eickhoff officiating. Burial was at the Blue Ridge Cemetery near Gresham. Memorials may be directed to the family.
