Helen I. Shaw

Helen I. Shaw, 92 of York, died Monday, June 14, 2004 in York. She was born December 6, 1911 near Cordova, NE to Harry and Lily (Lull) Miner. After graduating high school and normal training she taught rural school near Cordova for several years and then was a Red Cross worker in San Francisco, CA during WWII. Helen then married Harold Shaw in Kansas. She and her husband owned and operated Shaw’s Music Store in York for 20 years. Helen was a member of the Baptist Congregational Church in York, York American Legion Aux., Community Concert in Lincoln and York Retired Teachers.

Survivors include one son, Zane Lee (Mary) Shaw of Buford, GA; one daughter, Luene (Bob) Rogers of York; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth (Haywood) Richards of Longmont, CO. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, daughter, an infant sister, sister and four brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 17th at Metz Chapel in York with Phil Towle officiating. Burial was in the Exeter Cemetery at Exeter, NE. Memorials in care of the family.
