Joseph Stephen Schulz, age 38, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Sunday April 7, 2013 at Lenexa. He was born to Stan and Grace (Loschen) Schulz on December 22, 1974 at Immanuel Lutheran Hospital in Omaha, NE and was baptized on January 12, 1975 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York on May 6, 1990.
Joe graduated from high school at York in May of 1993. He completed his BS degree in biochemistry and his MS degree in biochemistry with an emphasis in animal science at the UNL campuses in Lincoln, NE. Joe worked in management positions for various laboratories in Nebraska and Kansas. His personal interests included his family and friends, TaeKondo, roller derby, deer hunting, wine/beer making, food processing, cooking and preservation, electronic games and going to rock concerts.
Joe was married to Jamie Rasmussen in February 1995. To this union his daughter Roxanne Marie was born on March 14, 1996. Joe later married Rebecca Martz in July 2005.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Roxanne Schulz of Lincoln; parents, Stan and Grace Schulz of York; brother,
John Schulz of York; sisters, Christina (Scott) Cerveny of Aurora, NE and Cate (Tom) Miller of Poughkeepsie,
NY; numerous other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, one uncle,
one nephew, and a cousin.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in York with inurnment in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to his daughter’s education fund or donor’s choice.
